The Smittle House began with John and Ena Smittle after the retirement of John and Ena as local high school teachers. Through the years they traveled the world and experienced many cultures and were always intrigued with the food. They wanted to bring the food they experienced back home with them to Columbus, Kansas. They then started the Smittle House Bed and Breakfast. They grew the business locally for years, until they decided to retire from the Smittle House. The Smittle’s wanted the business to keep going and were looking for new owners to continue what they had started. Enter Lucas and Jordan Epler, who bought the business and have continued to grow the business and have started to expand.
